How Much Do Ziptrak Blinds Cost in NZ?
Realistic Ziptrak outdoor blind pricing for New Zealand homes — per blind, and for enclosing a whole patio.
Get a Free QuoteAs a broad indication, Ziptrak outdoor blinds in New Zealand commonly cost somewhere between $1,500 and $3,500 per blind supplied and installed, depending on the width, drop and fabric — with motorisation adding more. Enclosing a full patio with several blinds typically runs from around $4,000 to $12,000+. These are indicative NZ market figures, not a quote; every blind is made to measure for its opening.
Ziptrak is a track-guided system — no zips, ropes or pulleys — so what you’re pricing is a made-to-measure blind, its tracks and a proper installation, opening by opening. Four things decide where each blind lands in that range.
What decides the cost per blind
Width and drop
Each blind is made to measure for its opening, so the bigger the opening, the more fabric, spline and track. Very wide openings may need to be split into two blinds, which changes the cost structure of the job.
Fabric choice
Mesh gives sun and UV protection with airflow and a view out; clear or tinted PVC seals out wind and rain for year-round use; acrylic canvas gives total block-out. PVC and canvas generally price higher than mesh.
Manual or motorised
The spring-balanced Ziptrak system is easy to operate by hand — pull down, push up. Motorisation adds cost per blind but makes sense for high or hard-to-reach openings, or when you're running several blinds at once.
Number of openings
Enclosing a patio usually means several blinds, one per opening between posts. Each opening needs its own tracks and fixing, so the total scales with how many sides you're closing in — not just the overall size.

The honest number for your patio depends on your openings, so we measure before we price. The measure and quote are free — you’ll get a fixed price per blind and a recommendation on fabric for each side.
What the money buys you
A Ziptrak blind is spring loaded and track guided on both sides, so the fabric glides smoothly, stops at any height you like, and locks in the down position against high winds and UV — pull down, push up, no zippers or buckles. The blinds carry a 2 year warranty, and the range of quality fabrics is what makes them work in New Zealand conditions: clear or tinted PVC to keep areas warm in winter and dry in a downpour, mesh for solar protection with airflow, or acrylic canvas for total block-out.
In practice, the blinds turn a covered patio into an extra room — warm in winter, cool in summer — which is why the cost per blind is best judged against what a builder would charge you to add that room any other way.
Ziptrak cost questions
Is clear PVC more expensive than mesh for Ziptrak blinds?
Generally yes. Clear or tinted PVC is the fabric that turns a patio into a year-round outdoor room — it seals out wind and rain — and it typically prices above mesh for the same opening. Mesh is the more affordable choice where you want sun and UV protection with airflow and a view out.
How much extra does motorising Ziptrak blinds cost?
Motorisation is priced per blind, so the difference depends on how many openings you're doing. Because the Ziptrak system is spring balanced and genuinely easy to use by hand, many homes skip motors entirely — we'll tell you honestly whether they're worth it for your openings when we quote.
Are genuine Ziptrak blinds worth the price over cheaper zip blinds?
Ziptrak and Urban Track are the two pre-eminent track-guided systems in New Zealand. The track-guided design has no zips, ropes, buckles or pulleys to fail, glides smoothly, stops at any height and locks down against wind. Cheaper systems tend to fail at exactly those points — the zips and the tension.
How many blinds do I need to enclose my patio?
One blind per opening between posts or walls, as a rule. A typical covered patio has two or three open sides, so most enclosures are two to four blinds. We measure each opening on site, because the count and sizes — not the patio's floor area — are what the quote is built on.
