Shade that earns its place in a Cambridge garden

Cambridge is a town that notices detail — clipped hedges, villa verandahs, landscaping done properly. An outdoor umbrella here can't just throw shade; it has to look like it belongs. That's why we stock Shade7: NZ-designed umbrellas with clean lines, marine-grade anodised frames and Spanish-milled acrylic canvas in colours that flatter a garden rather than shouting over it.

The range covers every kind of Cambridge outdoor space. The Riviera cantilever brings resort-style shade to a poolside or lounge setting, the Venice is a light, elegant centre-pole for decks and lawns, the Milan is built for exposed or hard-working sites, and the wall-mounted Paraflex solves tight courtyards where a pole would be in the way. Every canopy uses solution-dyed Recasens canvas with the top colour-fastness rating of 7–8 out of 8 — so the colour you choose is the colour it stays.

  • Canopy colours and shapes chosen to complement villas and high-spec new builds
  • Up to a 10-year residential fabric warranty on Recasens acrylic canvas
  • Base and fixing options for decks, patios, paving and lawns
Cantilever umbrellas shading an outdoor cafe dining setting

Made in Pirongia · installed across Cambridge

From Leamington lawns to the Victoria Street cafe scene

Around Leamington and St Kilda, the new builds are some of the sharpest in the Waikato — and their owners want outdoor shade to match. A Shade7 cantilever over the outdoor lounge or spa is the finishing touch on that kind of home: the mast stands to the side, the canopy floats over the furniture, and the whole thing winds away in seconds when you want evening sun.

Cambridge's hospitality strip is the other side of our work here. Footpath tables and courtyard seating live or die by shade in January, and Shade7's commercial models — the Milan centre-pole and the big Tempest — were engineered for exactly that daily grind: heavy-duty masts, rust-free stainless fittings, and canvas that shrugs off a full season of UV.

And then there are the lifestyle blocks and equestrian properties on the edges of town, where entertaining areas are generous and exposed. Bigger canopies need proper engineering and the right base — we'll steer you to a setup that stays planted when the wind comes across the paddocks, rather than the biggest umbrella on the shelf.

Why Cambridge shops with us

Advice before the sale

Model, canopy size, fabric colour, base — we help you get all four right for your space. Cambridge is 25 minutes from our Pirongia workshop, so local really means local.

Built, not just styled

Behind the good looks are marine-grade aluminium masts, fibreglass ribs and stainless componentry — engineering you can see the first time a gust hits an open canopy.

Colour that keeps

Solution-dyed Recasens acrylic holds the best available colour-fastness rating of 7–8 out of 8, with UPF 80 sun protection under the canopy.

Outdoor Umbrellas in Cambridgequestions

What colours and fabrics can I choose for a Cambridge property?

Shade7 canopies use premium solution-dyed acrylic canvas from Recasens in Spain, in a range of colours from crisp neutrals to bold accents. Because the colour is dyed through the fibre rather than printed on, it carries the top colour-fastness rating of 7–8 out of 8 — worth having in Cambridge, where the umbrella is part of the look of the garden.

Do you supply umbrellas for Cambridge cafes and hospitality venues?

Yes. The Milan and Tempest models are specifically engineered for commercial use — stronger masts, rust-free fittings, and fabric that handles being up all day, every day. We can advise on sizes and bases for footpath or courtyard seating, and you're welcome to view umbrellas at our Pirongia workshop first.

What's the difference between a cantilever and a centre-pole umbrella?

With a centre-pole umbrella the mast rises through the middle of whatever it shades — simple, strong and easy to shift. A cantilever hangs the canopy from an offset mast, keeping the area underneath completely clear, which is why they're so popular over dining tables and pool loungers. We stock both and will tell you honestly which suits your space.

How do I get a price, and can I see one before I buy?

Send us the rough size of the area you want shaded and how you use it, and we'll recommend a model and give you a no-obligation price. Our workshop is in Pirongia, about 25 minutes from Cambridge, so you can also arrange to view the umbrellas in person before deciding.
